The Denver Broncos will wrap up the 2018 season Sunday with a home game against the division rival Los Angeles Chargers. While the game is meaningless for Denver, there are a couple rooting interests for Broncos fans, including the chance for Bradley Chubb to set an NFL record for sacks in a season by a rookie and spoil the Chargers’ chances for a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Chubb has recorded 12 sacks this season and needs three more to break the rookie record set by former Tennesse Titan Jevon Kearse in 1999.
Chubb spoke with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports Radio AM 1340 | FM 104.7 earlier in the week to discuss the record and how he plans to finish his first season in the NFL.
“Three sacks would be amazing but I am not sure how attainable that is,” Chubb told Mile High Sports. “I’m just going to go out and put up the best film I got and try to make it one of the best games I played this year.”
Chubb is in the mix for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award and a stellar performance on the gridiron Sunday could help his chances in the voting.
“My main thing right now is to keep my head on straight and finish the season out strong,” Chubb said.
