Chris Harris Jr. is not worried about Brock Osweiler‘s future with the Denver Broncos. In fact, the defensive back is already looking forward to taking the field with him, per MileHighReport.com.
“I think Brock will be back,” said Harris. “I’m excited to play with him.”
Harris praised Osweiler’s performance leading the team during Peyton Manning‘s absence in the regular season, saying the back up did a “great job.”
Harris, an undrafted free agent signed by the team in 2011, has steadily improved in each of his five NFL seasons. He has started every game (regular and post-season) over the past two years and recorded 13 tackles with two pass defenses in Denver’s run to the Super Bowl title.
Osweiler’s future with the team is uncertain. The Broncos are yet to come to terms with the quarterback, and Osweiler very well may make it all the way to the open market once free agency begins on March 7. Osweiler compiled a 5-2 record as a starter, and led the Broncos to big wins over the Patriots, Bengals and Bears.
Harris attributes his confidence in Osweiler’s return to the Championship they recently won together. The strength of the roster and the closeness of the locker room are two factors that could way heavily on Osweiler’s decision.
“When you win a championship, it kind of makes you hungrier,” added Harris. “Everybody on the defense will be back, so I’m excited to continue to play with those guys. We’re a young defense so we’re going to continue to get better.”
If John Elway can actually find a way to bring back the whole defense, as Harris predicts, and Osweiler, they might as well hand him the award for best general manager right then and there.
