Denver Broncos rookie RB Jonah Coleman lands on IR with high ankle sprain
Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman will be out for at least the next four games after the team placed him on short-term injured reserve after he suffered a high ankle sprain last week in the team’s Week 2 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
What’s interesting about this is that Coleman was fully dressed and present this week at Broncos practice and stretched with the team, but he did not participate in any team or position drills this week.
He’ll now be out until at least Denver’s road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.
The Broncos are running out of practice squad elevations for fullback Adam Prentice and long snapper Mitchell Fraboni. Coleman landing on IR frees up a roster spot for the Broncos, which theoretically could lead to one of them moving onto the active roster.
With Coleman out, the Broncos’ running back room will feature J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, and Tyler Badie as the top three until the rookie returns.
UPDATE: Denver promoted Fraboni to the active roster. They also elevated Prentice, who will be on his final elevation on Sunday, and returner/wide receiver Kolbe Katsis to the gameday roster.
