The Denver Broncos had two of their best players on both sides of the ball pop up with injuries in the team’s dominant 44-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

After suffering a scare in the first quarter with a lower right leg injury, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II came back and played through the first half, but did not return in the second half.

When the second half began, the Broncos announced that he was questionable to return with a shoulder injury, before he was ultimately downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.

Surtain was spotted briefly in the locker room after the game, but the media didn’t get to speak to him because he’s injured. It is worth noting, however, that he did not have a sling on his arm. Sean Payton doesn’t talk about injuries, so it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything from him on Surtain in his Monday morning conference call with us, but this will be the biggest story of the week that’s worth monitoring.

The Broncos will return to practice on Wednesday as they prepare to face the Houston Texans on the road in an AFC matchup. Unless something comes out from an agent or industry source, we won’t likely hear anything on Surtain until Wednesday, but no sling is a good sign.

Wide receiver and returner Marvin Mims played the entire game on Sunday, but was put into the NFL’s concussion protocol after the game. Mims was hit helmet-to-helmet by a Cowboys defender on a play near the sideline as he was running to pick up a first down. Mims saw another touch after the game.

He’ll have to clear the NFL’s Concussion Protocol before he can play, which puts his status into question early ahead of the team’s matchup against the Texans.

We’ll have you updated throughout the week here at Mile High Sports.
