The Denver Broncos were back on the field on Wednesday as they prepare for the NFL Playoffs. Their first draw of the post-season will be against the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen. This week, head coach Sean Payton has emphasized the importance of the team’s attention to detail.

Denver Broncos focused on attention to detail vs. Buffalo Bills

Hidden yards, lost yards, and down-to-down efficiency are three of the various little things that can have a big impact on the outcome of a game, and Broncos head coach Sean Payton emphasized the importance of attention to detail as his young team prepares for what will be the first playoff game for many players on this roster.

Part of the process of paying attention to the little details is maintaining a routine. With the playoffs here, the Broncos’ approach this week is the same as it’s been all season long, but there’s a larger emphasis on avoiding the little things that can derail you in a playoff game.

“We’re all routine-driven,” Payton said. “It’s not like we pay more attention to the details this week than we did in Week 5, but you also understand in playoff football, unlike the other sports, it’s three hours. [I] put a video together this morning of just when you do this long enough, personal fouls, behavior penalties, these little things that can swing the outcome of a game. Because you’re taking the top teams in the league, the margins get closer, and therefore the mistakes can be of greater consequence.”

With Denver heading into hostile territory this weekend, avoiding those mistakes could be the difference between the Broncos shocking the world or going one and done.

Broncos Wednesday Injury Report

As the Broncos prepare for the Buffalo Bills, they’re healthy for the most part. Following Wednesday’s practice, the team released their official injury report.

Undrafted rookie tackle Frank Crum was the only player who did not participate. Crum is battling an illness that kept him out all of last week and forced him to miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was the only player who was not accounted for during today’s practice.

There were only two limited players in today’s practice. Offensive guard Ben Powers was limited with a rest designation, so there isn’t an injury that he’s dealing with. He’ll likely return as a full participant on Thursday.

Cornerback Damarri Mathis was limited with a back injury. He participated in individual drills but not team drills. We’ll monitor his status in Thursday’s practice.

Running back Tyler Badie (back) and tight end Nate Adkins (abdomen) were on the injury report, but both were full participants on Wednesday. Badie still has not been activated yet from injured reserve, and it doesn’t look like that move will happen, even though his window to return was activated two weeks ago.
