For the second consecutive season the Denver Broncos have started off 0-2 under Sean Payton. It doesn’t get any easier for Denver as they prepare for a two-game road trip where they’ll hopefully find some answers.

Denver Broncos looking for answers after 0-2 start

0-2 has a very familiar feeling for a lot of players inside the Denver Broncos locker room after Sunday’s game. It’s a feeling that many of them are tired of experiencing, and so much of the conversation surrounding this team in the offseason was focused on starting fast.

Denver has done the complete opposite offensively. In Sunday’s home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Broncos offense only mustered six total points and turned the ball over twice. The Broncos offense punted on six of their 11 offensive drives and turned the ball over on three of them (two interceptions, turnover on downs.) Simply put, the effort wasn’t good enough despite the defense they were playing. There was a lack of rhythm. Even more importantly, the offense couldn’t do anything with the opportunities the defensive side of the ball gave them.

In the second half, the Broncos’ defense forced the Steelers’ offense to punt on six of their seven possessions, and the offense couldn’t muster up points outside of a field goal late.

Now the team sits with an 0-2 record and will face two tough teams on the road in back-to-back weeks against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets — two games that could define the team for the rest of the season.

“I think it’s more just being 0-2, being close,” Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton said. “We know the team we are, and I think the next two weeks are going to be what define us this season. We’re staying on the East Coast, so it’s really two weeks about us, and we’re going to see who we are in four weeks.”

Broncos cornerback Riley Moss believes the team will put their heads down and work.

“I think head down, focus on us and keep grinding,” Moss said. “That is the biggest thing. We’re still trying to figure out our identity. I think we all believe that we can be a great team. I think it’s just that we got to keep working and coming in every day.”

The clock is ticking early on for the Denver Broncos season.
