The Denver Broncos will report for training camp in July, with rookies and veterans each reporting on separate dates.
Denver Broncos training camp report dates announced by NFL
The NFL has announced training camp reporting dates for every team around the league. Broncos rookies will report on Wednesday, July 22, with veterans set to report the following Tuesday, July 28 as the team aims to make it back to the AFC Championship game in 2026.
After a 14-3 campaign last year, the Broncos have higher expectations coming into this season. They were one game away from the Super Bowl and as a team, they felt like they could have won it had Bo Nix not gone down with an ankle injury after their monumental win against the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional round of the playoffs.
After an offseason of questions surrounding what the ankle surgery would mean for Nix’s game, the Broncos franchise quarterback put any concerns to rest, and also made his return during mandatory minicamp, where he participated in position drills and 7-on-7. With Nix set to be fully cleared well before the team reports for training camp on the 28th, there won’t be any questions surrounding him as the team takes the field for practice.
Denver’s rookie draft class is fully signed, and there won’t be any risk for holdouts as Jonah Coleman, Tyler Onyedim, Justin Joly, and Red Murdock take the field on the 22nd.
Right now, the only thing lingering ahead of the start of training camp is the ongoing situation with Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper, who is facing multiple charges stemming from a domestic violence incident that took place several weeks ago, resulting in an arrest, and then an additional arrest a week later.
Cooper has a disposition hearing on July 24, which is just four days before veterans report for camp. In the event Cooper’s situation goes to trial, that would likely take place as camp goes on. The Broncos excused Cooper from mandatory minicamp, and it’s safe to assume he’ll be excused from the start of camp as well, pending any type of move from the team or the NFL league office.
“Relative to [OLB] Jonathon Cooper,” Payton said. “We have excused him from this mini camp. He’s taking this time, obviously… He’s got to work on himself. The club is very much in tuned to the league office, local authorities here, and we’ve had several meetings. Clearly from an ownership standpoint, head coach, organizationally… There’s a bar that we have, and an expectation that we have, that’s very high. We’ll consider all of that as we continue to gather the information. That’s really all I can tell you. I think it’ll take a little bit of time, but we’re continuing to go through that process, and we take it very seriously.”
The team is working with local authorities and the league office closely and is continuing to gather all the pertinent information that will ultimately determine any decision the team will or could make.
