The Denver Broncos defense is keeping their core players intact for the long-term after the team extended defensive end Zach Allen early on Saturday morning.
Denver Broncos extend Zach Allen on massive four-year deal
The Denver Broncos put pen to paper this morning and locked in one of their most dominant defensive players on a four-year deal that’s worth $102M, with $69.5M in guaranteed money, as first reported by Jordan Schultz.
After locking up Patrick Surtain II last season on a long-term deal, the Broncos take care of another cornerstone piece of their roster. Allen had himself a monster year in 2025, racking up a career-high 8.5 sacks, but even that number doesn’t describe the overall impact he had for Denver defensively.
He was the Broncos’ ironman at one of the most physically demanding positions last season, playing 964 defensive snaps (89%) despite missing one game due to injury and bouncing back quickly. Allen hardly came off the field, and his high motor is something that’s always on display.
Allen was voted as an AP Second-Team All-Pro this past season, and did receive some consideration in voting for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, which ultimately went to his teammate, Surtain.
He’s a chess piece player for an already stingy Broncos defense, generating 47 quarterback pressures and 29 quarterback knockdowns.
His four-year deal lands on top of the final year of his current deal, which essentially makes this a five-year deal. He’s set to make $13.25 this year, which adds onto the four-year extension and $102M price tag, making it in essence worth $115.25M toal.
With Allen’s deal being taken care of, this could also open up the Broncos to get an extension done with young and rising pass rusher Nik Bonitto, which would give the Broncos’ defense long-term security at every level of the field.
We’ll see Allen today as the Broncos prepare for Saturday’s scrimmage.
