The Denver Broncos wrapped up Thursday’s practice and are trending towards having a primarily healthy squad as they get ready to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Denver Broncos RB RJ Harvey continues to stack days
Rib injuries aren’t fun to deal with, but Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey continues to stack days as a full participant for two consecutive days as the team wrapped up their second day of practice prep for the Jaguars.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton touched on managing Harvey’s workload.
“We’re doing it in third-down situations with [RB Tyler] Badie and [FB] Adam [Prentice], [RB] Jaleel [McLaughlin],” Payton said. “I probably need to get him a little bit more touches. I made that note after the game. Again, he’s built in a way where he can handle a good dose of running. This is the No. 1 run defense in the NFL. They’re stout. They’re strong. I would say they’re rarely out of their gaps. At this stage of the season, if I give you that Week 4, you’d say, ‘All right.’ But at this stage of the season, to be first in the NFL in rush defense, they’re doing something really well. That’s impressive.”
Harvey’s crucial to the success of Denver’s offense on the ground and out of the backfield, so another day of full participation is a great sign.
As was the case on Wednesday, wide receiver Pat Bryant (hamstring), center Luke Wattenberg (ankle), offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey (neck), wide receiver Marvin Mims (biceps), and inside linebacker Karene Reid (hamstring) were all full participants for the second consecutive day.
Linebacker Justin Strnad, once again, was not spotted and did not participate with a foot injury.
Left guard Ben Powers (bicep) continues to ramp things up and was a limited participant. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers was limited as a non-injury related – rest.
