If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that you SHOULD NOT get a championship tattoo before your team actually WINS the championship!
It happens every year. Some overly optimistic fan gets a championship tattoo before the season starts, waits with anticipation all year and then is inevitably stuck with an idiotic tattoo for the rest of their life. Why does this keep happening?
The only time this has ever worked is when Jason Terry tattooed the Larry O’Brien Trophy on his bicep before the start of the 2010-11 season before going on to win a championship with the Dallas Mavericks. But at least he actually hand a hand in the outcome; you, as a fan, do not.
Honestly, it’s more of a curse, isn’t it? Haven’t these guys heard of a jinx? I knock on wood every time I utter something positive about the Broncos; I’m pretty sure getting this tattooed on your calf is a little more serious:
According to WCVB in Boston, this young man is Burke O’Connell, and he is regretting this life decision.
“Honestly, I just had a bad feeling right in the beginning, and they started losing,” said O’Connell.
O’Connell plans on keeping his leg covered up until he gets out of Massachusetts and back home to Los Angeles, which should tell you everything you need to know: This man is full of shame.
Just imagine how he must feel. Don’t bring up Stephen Gostkowski or Tom Brady. That loss is the fault of one man and one man only: Burke O’Connell.
Don’t mess with the sports gods!
At least he’s been able to find a way to sleep at night.
“They’re champs anyway. We got four rings,” O’Connell said. “We’re the best anyway regardless if we win or lose.”
Alright, O’Connell, just make sure you keep telling yourself every time you catch a glimpse of that tattoo in the mirror.
