Up until the sixth inning it was a pitchers duel between Chase Burks of Chattahoochee Valley (50-10, 1-0 JUCO) and Michael Adams of Harford College (52-10, 0-1 JUCO), but the top-seeded CVCC Pirates needed just one inning to explode offensively.
Through the first four innings, only one run was scored – a fourth-inning RBI double by Dominic DiSabatino.
Burks threw 6.1 innings of work for CVCC. On the other side, Harford’s Michael Adams logged 5.1 innings. Both pitchers had their A stuff going, even though runners were being traded as if it were a poker card game exchanging chips.
But once relief pitcher TJ Pagan came in for Harford, that’s when the Pirates’ offense turned the switch. In the sixth inning Chattahoochee Valley scored six runs and imposed their dominance, as have done all season. Once their bats are hot they keep going until the end.
After the six-run inning, the very next inning saw the Pirates’ score four more runs. Putting the 8-run rule in effect and ending the game for Chattahoochee Valley winning, 10-2.
Chattahoochee Valley had 13 hits for their 10 runs, showing what they can do once the bats are on fire. Also, making history in the game for Chattahoochee Valley are both Chase Burks and head coach Adam Thomas. Burks became the leader in all-time wins at Chatt. Valley and Thomas became the all-time wins leader as a coach at the school with 631.
