Mike Bobo and the CSU Rams scored three big in-state recruits on Wednesday with the addition of Christian Cumber, Marcus McElroy and the state’s all-time sacks leader, Corte Tapia. All three earned all-state honors in 2016, including Six Zero Strength All-Colorado Team that appeared in Mile High Sports Magazine.
Tapia hails from Windsor, Colo., a 4A powerhouse that won the state title his junior year. As a senior, Tapia racked up 93 total tackles (49 solo) and seven sacks. His 46 total sacks in four years on varsity are a Colorado state record. As a junior Tapia logged 15.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hurries.
He received Division I offers from six Division I schools, according to Rivals, including fellow Mountain West foes Air Force and Wyoming.
