Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had himself an impressive month in October, and has showcased growth on a week to week basis. With Denver sitting at 5-3 on the year, Sunday’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens has massive implications for the AFC as they hope to make it to the playoffs for the first time since Super Bowl 50.

If the Broncos are going to make it to the postseason for the first time since Peyton Manning last lifted the Lombardi Trophy, they have to showcase that they can play with the teams that are anticipated to make it to the big stage. The Ravens have been a playoff team for the last handful of years, led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
Both teams are tied at 5-3, but Denver’s 2-2 conference record gives them the advantage in the standings today over the Ravens, who are 2-3 in the conference. A win on Sunday would be massive for the Broncos, not only because it would give them their sixth win, but it would give them a tiebreaker advantage over a team like the Ravens, which is one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league.
Rookie quarterback Bo Nix is eager for the challenge as he and the offense continue to grow, and he believes that they must match the intensity the Ravens are going to bring to the matchup, coming off of a loss to the Cleveland Browns. Denver is expecting a physical game.
“Yes you do and these guys have been that [way] for a long time,” Nix said. “They have notoriously been physical. Guys that have come before have set the tone for who they are as a defense. We know it’s going to be a physical football game. We know that they’re going to be really ready to play. They’ve kind of hit their stride and we just have to be good in all phases of the game. We have to do a good job running the ball, we have to stay good on early downs, we have to stay out of third and longs and we just have to execute. Execute the play that’s called. We’re going to have a good plan and ultimately just we have to match it. We know what it’s going to be. We have to match the intensity, the passion [and] the physicality that they’re going to play with. I’m excited for the challenge because these are the type of games that you go through, you play and they’re extremely difficulty. They’re hard at the moment, but when you get out of them, you grow a lot as a player. You learn a lot about yourself and about your team. Ultimately going on the road, competing and winning a game like this is special for an organization, too. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re going to be ready.”
Nix is coming off the most impressive game of his young career, throwing three touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers and rushing for one while completing 75.7% of his passes on 28-of-37 attempts, becoming the first Broncos quarterback in team history with at least three passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and zero interceptions. It’s clear that he’s developing more comfortability and confidence week in and week out, which is a promising sign for the franchise going forward.
If Bo Nix and the Broncos find a way to beat the Ravens on Sunday, it has the chance to change the entire trajectory and outlook for the remainder of the season regarding the team’s expectations.
