The Denver Broncos were back on the practice field on Wednesday as they prepare for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs. In a game where the Chiefs will rest some of their key starters, Broncos players are eager to get the bad taste of a two-game losing streak out of their mouths.

Denver Broncos eager to bounce back vs. Kansas City Chiefs

For the last two weeks, the Denver Broncos have had a chance to get into the post-season with a win, but they fell short against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals. Those missed opportunities have left a bad taste in the mouths of players, and they are eager to get it out on Sunday when they take on the Chiefs, who will be without Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and several other key starters for Kansas City.

In the eyes and minds of the players, it doesn’t matter who they line up against, the task remains the same — win no matter what.

“We’re going to go like they’re going to play everybody,” Bo Nix said. “That’s not our decision to make, but we have to be ready to go. We have to compete with whoever they put on the field.”

Following their two-game losing streak, I spoke to multiple Broncos players in the locker room who told me that they’re eager to get the bad taste out of their mouths. Players felt like they missed out on several opportunities in the last two weeks but acknowledged the sense of urgency they feel for Sunday’s game.

“The last two weeks are not truly representative of who we are collectively,” one Broncos player told me. “We know how important it is for us to get back to the standard we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season. It’s all-or-nothing, and we’re gonna lock in.”

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton emphasized the importance of the team writing their own story.

“You could say that it would have been nice to go into this game and have your position locked in and everything like that, but in terms of a story-book thing that you couldn’t write up any better, this is the best opportunity that we could have,” Sutton said. “To go and solidify why we deserve to be in the dance. I know the guys are ready for the opportunity and ready for this moment that has been put in front of us. [I’m] just looking forward to being able to go out there and showcase why we deserve to have that last spot and take off with it.”

It doesn’t matter who plays, it doesn’t matter where the game is played — Sunday’s matchup with the Chiefs has everything at stake.
