Hakeem Butler is getting another NFL opportunity after landing with the Denver Broncos after an impressive UFL campaign.

Denver Broncos sign former NFL WR, UFL standout Hakeem Butler

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton likes wide receivers who have size, and Hakeem Butler has plenty of it. He’s 6-foot-5, 242 pounds. After spending the spring in the UFL as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks, Butler is going to get another NFL opportunity.

For the Battlehawks, Butler had 29 catches for 641 yards and averaged 22.1 yards per catch and three touchdowns. He led the UFL in receiving and was the offensive player of the year.

He’ll get the chance to compete in a very loaded wide receiver room during minicamp this week, with an opportunity to impress for a training camp invite.

He was a fourth-round draft pick for the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 but didn’t play after landing on injured reserve with a broken hand. He was waived in 2020 and landed on the Carolina Panthers practice squad before the Philadelphia Eagles signed him off of their practice squad.

Butler then spent time in the CFL, XFL, and several NFL teams during minicamp and training camp. His most recent stint in the UFL saw his best overall production.

We’ll get our first look at him in Tuesday’s minicamp practice.
