Marquez continues to own the mound and the batter’s box
German Marquez’ brilliance continued against the Blue Jays as the frontman of the Rockies’ rotation extended his stretch of impressive play.
Toronto tallied two runs in the second inning, but from that point on, Marquez shut the Jays’ offense down in short order.
Marquez was dealing all night and kept Toronto’s hitters off-balance from the jump.
The 24-year-old hurler weaved around the Blue Jays lineup and departed with a line of seven innings pitched, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out seven batters.
Marquez is a two-way threat and proved his ability to hit in the batter’s box in the third inning when he roped a single to left field to extend his current hitting streak to five games. Marquez collected his second hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning via a bloop single, this time to right field.

Tapia continues to thrive as Rockies’ leadoff hitter
Raimel Tapia has settled into a groove at the plate since taking over as the Rockies leadoff hitter with Charlie Blackmon sidelined with a right calf strain.
The 25-year-old speedster extended his hitting streak to 10 games in the bottom of the second inning of Colorado’s contest versus the Blue Jays on a double down the line in right field.
Tapia has scored 11 runs, hit four doubles and logged three RBIs over the course of the streak.
Tapia is known for his aggressive mindset at the dish and tends to swing early and often during his at-bats. Despite his aggressive nature, Tapia has walked four times during his career-long hitting streak.
Tapia has hit safely in 26 of his past 29 starts since April 16th and is hitting .303 in that span.
Rockies end May in style

The Rockies offense was lethal in May, scoring 183 runs which led the National League.
The 183 runs the Rockies tallied throughout May are the most in any calendar month by a Rockies’ team since the 2016 club scored 173 in August.
The Rockies finished the month with the highest batting average amongst all major league clubs with a .300 batting average. Additionally, the Rockies ranked within the top-five in slugging percentage and hits, while cranking 42 home runs.
